A PRELUDE TO A TEMPTATION

When studying the temptation of Christ, sometimes the focus is so much on the actual temptation and response of Christ that what happened previously is missed. How Jesus responded to the temptation is important, but how he reacted to being set up for the temptation is equally important. Prior to the temptation was the TEST. Satan’s strategy seems to be to initiate the test to see if he can create doubt thus setting up the person for a temptation, and then in a weakened state of mind, he will initiate the temptation. Yielding to temptation results in sin. After a significant moment at the baptism of Jesus, the voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.” This wonderful experience was immediately followed by 40 days of fasting in the desert. Matt. 3:17 and Matt. 4:1&2 Satan’s first statement was not the temptation, but this: “If you are the Son of God … Have you ever had thoughts like this – If you are really a child of God?. Or What if the Bible isn’t really true.. Or What if you aren’t really a Christian.. All these types of thoughts are “doubt creators.” Know who you are and never doubt that you are a child of the Most High God. Then you will be strong to cope with the temptation because you have passed the test. The next weapon you have in coping with temptation is scripture. Jesus said (by implication – I am the Son of God) and “it is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” Matt. 4:4 The second test occurred the same way – “If you are the Son of God … The temptation was to test God by using scripture which Satan quoted to Jesus. The temptation was to misuse scripture to put God to a test. Jesus said (by implication – I am the Son of God) – and “it is also written, do not put the Lord your God to the test.” Matt. 4:7 Have you ever had thoughts like this – If you are a child of God – then do something to get God to respond proving that He is God – if you’re a child of God, quit your job for it is written, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:19 Your answer, “It is also written, do not put the Lord your God to the test.” In the third temptation, Satan did not question if he was the Son of God. Satan attempts to tempt Him with an easier way out thus by-passing the cross with all of its suffering. Jesus told him, “Away from me Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.” Matt. 4:10 But this test isn’t really new. In Gen. 3:1 the serpent says, “Did God really say, you must not eat from any tree in the garden?” The pattern is the same, create doubt and doubt will create a receptive state of mind for temptation. To overcome temptation, have a strategy. Know who you are at all times – a child of the Most High God. In the testing time, remind yourself who you are. You are a child of the Most High God. Without doubt and with a knowledge of the scriptures, you will be in a strong state of mind to cope with any temptation that you experience.

God is Good

Sunday Sermon Thoughts: God is Good When sitting in a service often thoughts associated with the sermon start to flow through my mind.

The pastor’s Sunday sermon was based on a couple of scriptures from the Psalms. One was Psalm 136:1 – “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.” (NKJV)

What first impressed me was the question –What is good?

In reading books, we derive meanings of words from our own personal contexts based on our previous experiences and learning. Therefore, we have an idea of what good means. But what does good mean from God’s point of view?

When the rich young ruler came to Jesus, he approached him by saying, “Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life? So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is God….” Matt. 19: 16&17 (NKJV)

Jesus is saying from God’s point of view that good equals God.

The implied question was: If you call me good and there is no one good but God, do you see God in me? But he did not answer like Peter did – “You are the Christ the Son of the living God.” Instead he focused on the commandments and ultimately left sorrowfully because he had great possessions.

Since no one is good but God, then give thanks to the Lord for He is God, and His love endures forever, meaning God is Endless Love.

God demonstrates this endless love through his endless mercy. This gives us hope, which activates faith, which motivates action in response to His endless love. And faith — when activated by hope that has been awakened by Endless Love — can “move mountains.”

As long as there is Endless Love there is hope. And hope which is as endless as the Endless Love keeps us living, and it will carry us beyond this life into heaven to await the resurrected body — should it die — which we will rejoin thus living forever on God’s new earth with Him. Now from my point of view, that is good.

I Had A Dream

In the early morning hours of December 24, 2008 I had what seemed to me to be a dream. I was standing in the presence of God. I can best describe Him as a Golden Light of Pure Spirit permeating the entire area and extending well beyond where I stood. In this Golden Light there seemed to be an image that I could communicate with and was communicating with me. I could not discern any particular features of this visual image, except that I had a sense it was there.

I said, “Now I understand Who you are. You are Endless. You are ever expanding in all directions – never coming to an end. I had another flash of insight about humanity when His attention seemed to be focused elsewhere for a moment. Then it shifted back to me, and the thought was gone. Maybe it wasn’t supposed to be said at that time.

But the “voice” said to me, “They are all immortal beings encased in mortal bodies heading towards an eternal destination – heaven, prepared for supernaturally transformed spiritual beings or Hell, a place created for the devil and his angels and those who do not accept the spiritual transformation that has been provided for them. Tell those who have, that they will experience a purification process that will strip them of everything they think they know about themselves. It will not hurt them, and they will retain their awareness of being. But they will emerge from this as pure spirit dwelling in my presence–and at a point in time when time will be no more – dwelling in their resurrected/transformed physical bodies inhabiting a new earth with Me – forever.

About 2000 years ago, the image in the Golden Light emerged from that light and entered the little body of a baby I created in the womb of the virgin Mary. That Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace was born and called Yeshua or Jesus the Christ.

They killed the body of Yeshua, but they could never extinguish the Golden Light of my presence in Him. I healed His body and resurrected Him. The Golden Light reentered His resurrected body, and He is at my right hand – your Living Master.

The Golden Light of my presence is still in this world drawing all those who will respond to the Living Master, Yeshua, who brings them into my presence.

Christianity was never meant to be a religion. As a religion it has become impotent – like King Saul’s army sitting on the side of a mountain – shining their armor, making their weapons ready – but neither engaging the enemy nor experiencing victory nor entering the promised land that I have for them.

But when stripped of everything but my power, my people will slay “giants” and “walled cities” will crumble at their feet.

Christianity is intended to be a supernaturally empowered entity designed to make a spiritual impact on this world by sharing the Light of My Presence.

‘The people who sat in darkness have seen a great Light.’ The Light will not always be there for ‘my spirit will not always strive with man.’

Rely on my power, the Light of My Presence. Share my Light while it is yet day for the night is coming – soon.”

I am just a voice – a messenger – delivering a message.

God’s purposeful plan for your life is to live in a supernaturally resurrected/transformed body on a new earth with Him forever.

Welcome to WordPress.com. Note: For those that don’t know, I think this is the time to tell you that I am under contract with a publisher for my book, “The Cosmic Connection: Beyond the Brain.” I am going to try and add this “dream” to one of the chapters. It goes into pre-production in February and full production in March. It will be available as a soft cover book, an audio book done by professional readers, and an ebook. It will be available through bookstores, Amazon.com. Borders.com and the publisher’s bookstore too.

It is based on the scripture, “My thoughts are higher than your thoughts; and my ways higher than your ways’ and how these “higher thoughts and higher ways” can be connected to and become a guiding light to us in our daily lives.
